Advanced Creating Safe Spaces – for Pastors, Leaders and Safe Church Teams

Each year we provide an opportunity for Pastors, Leaders and Safe Church Teams to further develop their understanding of safe church issues through our two-day Advanced Creating Safe Spaces course. This training supplements the Creating Safe Spaces program with additional detail about culture, insurance, protective factors, reporting obligations and ways that you can help care for victims of abuse and promote a Safe Church culture.

We will hear from industry and ministry leaders with experience in child protection, risk management, leadership and church culture. The program also involves opportunities for discussion of practical scenarios to assist you with implementation in your context.

The workshop will be hosted by our Ministry Standards Manager Jonathan Bradford over two days (participants will need to attend BOTH days). Morning tea and lunch will be provided for day two at the in person workshop.

• Boundaries, Misconduct, Abuse and Conflict

• Responding to Misconduct and/or Abuse Allegations and Conflict

• Child Protection and complying with the Child Safe Standards recommended by the Royal Commission

• Implementation of best practice in ministry

• Updates on new Government Legislation and the Commonwealth Redress Scheme

• Safe Ministry with Persons of Concern and Known Sex Offenders

• WHS, Risk Management and Insurance requirements

• Caring for Survivors of Abuse

• Churches assisting victims of Domestic and Family Violence
